American Control Electronics offers drives designed to run on 12, 24, 36, or 48 VDC power to control 12, 24, 36, or 48 VDC permanent magnet motors. Our product offering includes drives that can operate in a 1Q mode (uni-directional) and 4Q bi-directional mode (regenerative). These DC control drives are microprocessor based allowing custom programming for OEMs.

These drives are designed for 12 or 24 VDC non-regenerative motor applications. They can control permanent magnet motors with peak current capacities up to 1.5 amps. 1Q drives are sometimes called “non-regenerative” or “uni-directional” drives. 1Q drives can only output voltage and current in one polarity and cannot oppose an overhauling load or decelerate a motor faster than the time it would take via a natural coast. Reversing must be done by swapping the motor wires via power contractors, switches, or relays and the load must come to a complete stop before reversing.

These drives are designed for 12, 24, 36 or 48 VDC regenerative motor applications. They can control permanent magnet motors with peak current capacities up to 1000 amps. 4Q stands for 4-Quadrant, sometimes called regenerative” or “reversing”. These drives can output voltage and current in two polarities and can oppose an overhauling load, decelerate a motor faster than the time it takes via a natural coast, and can reverse on-the-fly without the use of power contactors, relays, or switches.
